Flea Spray WarningIt might seem like a good idea to buy an over-the-counter flea spray for your cat, or dog vs. a much more costly vet visit, however, you might end up greatly regretting that decision later. Many flea sprays are loaded with chemicals like permethrin, alcohol, acetone, etc. that can be highly toxic to both dogs and cats. Permethrin can cause tremors, seizures, difficulty walking, lethargy, muscle spasms, and even DEATH. It is puzzling to us how these products can remain on the shelves of pet stores, and how the EPA can find these products safe for public use. We've reviewed the labels of all the commercial flea sprays and were unable to find one that did not have a single ingredient that was not toxic. Additionally, we found the dosing instructions extremely confusing and mis-leading. Using too much product is usually why your pet gets sick in the first place. Our advice, if you suspect your cat, or dog has fleas take them to a local Veterinarian as soon as possible.
